In our desire to maintain the safety and health of the entire East Rankin Academy community, as well as our excellence in academics, our school board and administration have developed the following plan as a response to the current coronavirus outbreak, or COVID-19. This plan is based upon current information and recommendations from the MAIS, MS Department of Health, and CDC:

  • East Rankin Academy will cancel school for students, faculty, and staff until further notice.
  • East Rankin Academy employees will report to school only in small, scheduled groups. School administrators and faculty will practice social distancing policies recommended by the CDC and Mississippi State Department of Health.
  • Long distance/online learning for grades K3-12 started on March 23 and will continue until further notice.
  • All East Rankin Academy athletic competitions have been cancelled until further notice.(Going forward, continuation of athletic events will be evaluated on a week by week basis.) Athletic practices are also cancelled.
  • Our school will follow guidelines from the CDC in regards to limiting activities or events for groups of over 10 people.
  • We will regularly assess the current crisis before announcing a possible date to return to school.

We want to thank our parents, faculty, staff, and students for your support and your patience as we navigate this time of uncertainty. We understand that this situation is continually changing, and we as a school will strive to provide updates in a timely manner. We also realize the burden that a school closure places on our families, and we are doing our very best to limit the time our students must be away from school, while also keeping the health of our school community a top priority. Even though the upcoming days may present a time of uncertainty, we know that God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (II Timothy 1:7)
